Fifth Day in Salzburg, Austria

Day (5):

Today we eagerly woke up at 6:45 AM and went downstairs to eat breakfast, man that cheese is heaven I don’t know from where they get that, a circular cheese with mint around it mmmm…Today is the tour for the sound of music movie.

Figure(1): We stopped here for Bus Exchange

So we were sitting in our room waiting for the bus to pick us up we waited until 9:15 AM then the small bus came and picked us up right from the hotel, then we reached the main station near the " Mirablle Palace “ which by the way was built for the girlfriend of the prince arc bishop after having 15 child with her!! “ in front of that Palace is a big garden with fountains in it and it is so wonderful but we didn’t enter it until the end of the tour. We took off  at 9:30 AM  The first place we went to the tour took about 15 minutes or so to the lake façade used in the movie it was so beautiful, water is so clean and the house looks magical unfortunately it was a private property so we couldn’t enter it, but we sure took a lot of pictures.

Next we took another 10 minutes to go to the next place, which was the passage used in scene in the movie and next to it by 3 minutes walking there was the gazebo, which was used in the song “ sixteen going on seventeen “ and we stopped to take a lot of pictures.. it was in a garden of a Palace which was also used in the movie but we didn’t enter it.

Continuing with our tour we stopped by a village which was also used in a scene in the movie and took some pictures there, we asked a Japanese man to take a picture for us both since we didn’t have any and he kindly accepted and he had a good hand and got a good picture.

Figure(4): The sheep Mountain

We passed through Sheep Mountain and Dragon Mountain, which are famous tourist spots and the highest in Europe also we discovered the story behind the energy drink Red Bull and we passed through the head office of the company.

The last station in the tour was the church which was used in the wedding scene in the movie, in reality it is much bigger than it appeared in the movie but unfortunately the church was closed because there were still nuns inside and cannot be opened to public. After that they gave us 45 minutes to enjoy the spot so we went to café braun and ordered an apple strudel and 2 hot chocolate with 10.90 euro, we passed through the souvenir shop but we didn’t buy anything.

These 45 minutes passed so quickly and we had to return to the bus and finish our tour. We returned to Mirablle Palace at 1:30 PM so we weren’t tired so we entered the palace and took some pictures there then we went to Mozart resident place it was the second floor of the building we entered for free since we had the Salzburg card.

The house contained 5 rooms you enter with your audio guide but it was unnecessarily long so we couldn’t complete the tour with it we just went on our own. After we finished from that we were so hungry so we went to Mcdonald’s and ordered fish fillet and asian wrap and got full and returned to the hotel. My husband has an idea since we rented a bus to travel to a nearby area called Anif, it is a small village which have many activities like horse riding and waterfall and there is a salt cave which the temperature inside can be in the minus!! So I agreed to travel there by bike it’s only a two hours drive and a straight way what can go wrong?

Well we have to sleep now and that’s all for today ..see you
