Third Day in Vienna, Austria

Day (3):

Today was a little messed up because we were so tired from yesterday.. We woke up at 6:45 AM we didn’t expect to sleep until that late we dressed in a hurry and went down to have our breakfast, there is a nice recipe for a breakfast I think you might use in emergencies just take a slice of toasted bread and dip it in honey and cinnamon and put it in the oven for 2 minutes or less and then spread some sugar in top of it and Bon appetite. There was also blackberry yoghurt like yesterday and we finished from breakfast and got out of the hotel and went to the museumsquare to see the hofburg palace and the other museums we saw yesterday.

We reached at exactly 8:15 AM but… museums don’t open until 10:AM!! So we got our selves nearly two hours of wasted time, so we tried to explore the area around the Palace to kill some time but the weather was so cold we couldn’t stand it so we entered a café and ordered a café latte and a cappuccino, the total was 5.80 euro. After we finished we went to Stephan platz street, this street is famous for being full with shops for tourists so it was a good experience to walk in it, at the end of that street we faced the st. Stephan Cathedral it was one of the biggest Cathedral in the country and there they had so many occasions and deaths for noble people.

We also passed through soma famous shops like H&M and Zara We stayed in that street until 10:20 AM so we went back to the Hofburg Palace to see the imperial Apartment where Franz Joseph and his wife Elizabith lived. The ticket was 9.99 euro for each person and the tour consisted of three parts, the first part was about royal dishes and decorations for the royal kitchen and dinning tables. Man there filthy rich !! Everything was silver or gold polished or solid gold, Silver smiths were specialized in making royal dishes and cooking tools for the “Royal” kitchen also dishes were often given as a gift to symbolize a friendship between two countries but due to the WWII most of silver belongings were melted to make coins so they changed their dishes into porcelain dishes which was discovered before the war but they were only used for dessert and soups. After we finished that part we moved to the sisi museum where you get to know the life of empress elizabith wife of emperor Franz Joseph and how she was not happy with all formalities and being the centre of attention and about her death, and we saw some of her diaries and we were accompanied with an audio guide which explains every historic detail of the piece you are seeing to give you a sense of value for what you are seeing, and the last part was the house of the royal couple, their bedrooms and their private chambers.

The tour took us approximately 3 hours and 30 minutes and were so tired and very hungry so we went to the nearest McDonalds and ordered a new meal called Asian Shrimp wrap 5.60 euro for the meal.
So our journey ended and we returned home, we didn’t take a lot of pictures because we were mostly inside the palace where photography is not allowed but it really worth it to see the accrual pieces for yourself and make your own opinion about it.

We returned to our hotel and we messaged each other’s legs, and then slept for two hours where we were suppose to sleep for only half an hour!! And we registered in the net for 9 euro and downloaded two movies about empress sisi which were recommended by the museum and the classic “ The Sound of Music” .

We woke up and went to the train station to activate our eurail ticket because tomorrow we are going to take off from Vienna.

Finally we went to a restaurant just in front of the train station and we had a Durum Sandwich each of 3.20 euro.

Now we are at the hotel, preparing our selves for tomorrow as we have a long journey to Salzburg and we must sleep now.

That’s all for today.  See you tomorrow.
